Det inneb\u00e4r att en arbetstagare inte f\u00e5r behandlas s\u00e4mre av sk\u00e4l som har samband med f\u00f6r\u00e4ldraledighet, till exempel vid l\u00f6nes\u00e4ttning, befordran eller vid f\u00f6r\u00e4ndring av anst\u00e4llningsvillkor. R\u00e4tten till ledighet \u00e4r lagstadgad och g\u00e4ller n\u00e4r villkoren \u00e4r uppfyllda. D\u00e4remot har arbetsgivaren r\u00e4tt att f\u00f6ra dialog om hur och n\u00e4r ledigheten ska f\u00f6rl\u00e4ggas f\u00f6r att verksamheten ska fungera s\u00e5 bra som m\u00f6jligt.
